Soana vs Mbarara City

Masavu vs Maroons

Bright Stars vs URA FC

After going down by Erisa Ssekisambu’s goal before halftime, Soana managed to come back and level matters through striker Baker Buyala’s goal as they held on to a vital point at Kitende in their last league encounter.

Following that display, Coach-less Soana – who parted ways with Shafic Bisaso, will once again have to deal with his acrimonious departure as they return to league action against new comers Mbarara City.

In a game that will be played at Kavumba Recreation Centre, the hosts will look to earn maximum points in order to jump out the relegation zone.

David Mutono in the steering wheel

Following the departure of Shafic Bisaso, assistant Coach David Mutono took over as the interim coah.

Mutono managed to pick a point against title contenders Vipers SC, thanks to his defensive approach.

Speaking to ChimpReports exclusively, Mutono revealed that he is to attack Mbarara City from the start.

“The way I approached Vipers cannot be the same way I will approach Mbarara City. Those two are different sides,” he said.

“I am going to go all out as am the home team and we want to win by a bigger margin because we have a negative four goal difference.”

That being said, the hosts will be without Michael Kamoga, Hamis Katende, Eddie Ruheza and Stephen Ategeka.

Speaking about the team’s preparations, Mutono added:

“I have prepared my side very well; I believe that we are highly motivated for Mbarara’s duel. I have followed Mbarara City this season and I believe that the fact that they have not won an away game is an extra advantage to us.”

Soana looking like a shadow of themselves

Last season, Soana FC managed to win 11 of their 30 league games as they finished seventh on the table with 43 points.

It’s still too early to call but the side is a top favourite (along with Masavu FC) to be relegated to the big league come the end of this season, if we are to go by their recent form and the fact that the side is without a senior coach currently.

Soana are 14th (relegation zone) on the table: the side’s only victory this season came against fellow strugglers Masavu FC (1-0).

With three losses (SC Villa, Proline and Onduparaka) and two draws (Bright Stars and Vipers), the side will look at Mbarara’s visit as a must win game to turn their poor fate around.

The visiting Ankole Lions

Mbarara City visit Kavumba Recreation centre at the back of a motivating 2-1 victory against Police FC at Kakyeka Stadium on Saturday.

The victory elevated the side way up to 8th position: having won, lost and drawn two games from their 6 league games so far.

On a sad note, the westerners come into this match without Marquez Wol, Santos Hakizimana and Boniface Amani.

However, Coach Vialli Bainomigishi’s fire-power of players like Hillary Mukunde, Asuman Alishe, Sam Kansiime, Ibrahim Orit, Swalik Ssegujja, Brian Ahebwa, Bassey Mako and Siraje Musindo, Soana will be given a huge run for their money.

It should be noted that Mbarara City has collected just one point from a possible nine, on the road this season: following that goalless draw at Kakindu Stadium (BUL FC), Mbarara City have suffered away defeats at Masaka Recreation Centre (SC Villa) and Startimes Stadium (Proline).

Whether they can turn the tables at Kavumba, is a question that will have been answered after the final whistle come Tuesday.

Elsewhere in the League

The TV game (Azam TV) will see Masavu FC play host to the visiting Asaph Mwebaze’s Maroons at Bugonga in a game that will kick off at 4pm.

Ibrahim Kirya takes his URA FC at Champions Stadium in Mwererwe to battle with Bright Stars.
