Crested Cranes midfielder Jean Sseninde has become one of the latest footballers to join Manchester United’s Juan Mata in his charity campaign.
Seninde, a daughter to Minister for Primary Education, Rosemary Sseninde is one of the six female footballers that have recently committed part of their salaries in reaching out to the less privileged people.
The campaign dubbed “Common goal” is an initiative that was started by Spanish midfielder Juan Mata in August this year with 18 other players both men and women pledging 1% of their salary to charity.
Sseninde joins five other players that include; 2015 World Cup winner and Arsenal forward Heather O’Reilly, Barcelona’s Olga Garcia, PSG attacker Vero Boquete, decorated new Manchester City signing Pauline Bremer, and Nicole Regnier of America de Cali in Colombia that have all committed their support to the cause.
The midfielder who plies her trade at Crystal Palace Ladies team has had a background of reaching out to the community through the Sseninde Foundation that helps in giving education, health care and financial support to the poor.

Sseninde(with the ball) has always encouraged young girls to play football
Last year, Sseninde started an annual football tournament that is aimed at giving a platform to young girls to play football.
Sseninde could not hide her delight on the opportunity and believes the project will help in reaching out to several people.
“A special day for me today to be first Ugandan and African player to sign with Common Goal. Together with five other incredible high profile players that shall embark on making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate than us,” She said.
Jventus defender Giorgio Chiellini and Bayern Munich’s Mats Hummels have already pledged one per cent of their wages, as have United States women’s internationals Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan.
Common Goal is run by the Berlin-based organization, street football world, which invests in more than 120 football-based charities in 80 countries.
