The Uganda Chess Federation has today revealed the final list of 24 players that will take part in the National championship final phase 2020 Moscow Russia Olympics Qualifier.
The Thursday-picked team comprises of the top 12 Men and 12 Women picked basing on the UCF final Grand Prix Circuit table standings, plus a Junior Champion and a wild Card entry to make a Super 14 Event for both teams.
IM Arthur Segwanyi, who recently won the Uganda Open Chess Championship, tops the Men’s standings with maximum 75 point ahead of FM Kawuma Patrick (71 points) and Bibasa Bob (57 points).
Segwanyi won the three circuit events he featured in, notably the Rwabushenyi Memorial, Kireka Open and the recently completed Uganda Open with a grand total of 75 points.
Gorreti Angolikin, who triumphed in the Zabasajja Memorial Open Rated Chess Tournament as the best Female player also topped the Ladies category with 73 points.
Angolikin was also the best Female in the Kireka Open and finished second overall in the Zabasajja Memorial Open Chess Tournament scoring 73 points out of a possible 75.
She finished on top of WCM Shakira Ampaire and Nakabo Peninah with four and ten point differences respectively.
The best 12 female players are also joined by Junior champion Nakanyike Maria and wild card entry, Amoko Ivy.
The Super 14 event has been rescheduled to a new date and venue which are yet to be determined with two rounds to be played every day.
The event will be played on a round robin basis to get the best ten (five from each category) that will represent Uganda in the Chess Olympiad in Moscow, Russia in August 2020.

The final selection on the standings was based on the best three performed events from the five.
