Afcon 2017: Uganda Fail Zimbabwe Test Ahead of Botswana Tie

Uganda Cranes have lost to Zimbabwe Warriors in an international friendly match played in Harare’s Ruharo artificial turf.

Head coach Micho had earlier on questioned the decision to host the game on an astro turf yet both teams are scheduled to play on natural pitches over the weekend in the 2017 Afcon qualifiers.

Cranes first keeper Dennis Onyango  who was voted the best goalie in the Absa premier league in South Africa, was rested and his place taken over by St. Georges Robert Odonkara.

KCCA FC mercurial left back Joseph Ochaya played second fiddle to Geoffrey walusimbi but was later introduced at the start of the second half together with midfielder Tonny Mawejje and Kenyan based Khalid Aucho.

Tennage Hadebe executed the job for the Callisto Pasuwa’s side with an opener in the fourth minute just before the East African giants had settled and sealed the fate two minutes after the half hour mark. Hadebe is among the defenders to grace this years Cosafa cup.

The Cranes now need to correct and put the house in order before Saturday’s must win clash against Botswana.

Todays hosts Zimbabwe play Malawi at the National Sports Stadium on the 5th of June.
