KCCA Football Club’s proposed budget of Shs. 10Bn has been approved by the parliament of Uganda with initial stages of redevelopment of the StarTimes stadium are earmarked for August.

The club has already secured the first installment of Shs. 2.5 billion, confirmed by the club chairman Martin Sekajja.

“So many people have been wondering what’s happening with the construction of the stadium but I can confirm we’ve gotten part of the funds to start construction which will begin in the next three months,” Ssekagya said on Friday.

He added, “We are now looking for a contractor and we’re hopeful in the next two weeks we shall advertise the tender. We envisage this process will take a period of three years, it could have been less but since we don’t have enough money, we can only use what we have.”

In case the redevelopment process for the sports facility commences, the stadium will be upped to 10,000 capacity sitting housing the VIP stand, platinum and ordinary ticket holder sections.

The time span for this redevelopment project is three years but remains contingent on the amount of financial inflow.

Upon completion, StarTimes stadium will become the second stadium venue to be fully owned by a club after St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende owned by Vipers Sports Club.
