Afcon U20: Rwanda, Egypt Exit Diminish Cecafa’s Hope

Cecafa region’s of representation at the 2017 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations has been reduced after the Ethiopia crushing to a humiliating 4-0 defeat to the Satellite stars of Ghana on Monday evening at the Gold coast stadium.

The Red Foxes carried a 2-1 advantage from Addis Ababa but allowed Evans Mensah and Dauda Mohammed and a brace from Yaw Yeboah before bowing out.

The match was initially scheduled for Sunday but heavy rains forced the postponement.

Victory means Ghana settle for an all West African affair in the third and last qualifying round.

On Saturday, Rwanda’s Junior Wasps also suffered elimination after losing 3-2 on post match penalties despite overturning a 1-0 deficit from Kigali.

Wasps reached the second round at the expense of Uganda who were expelled for using an ineligible olayer in James Ahebwa.

Seven aggregate winners from the third round ties will join Zambia in the finals to be played from February 26th to March 12th in Zambia

The semi finalists from the biannual even will represent the continent at 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup to be held in South Korea.
