Midfielder Nelson Mandela Signs for Big League Outfit

FUFA Big League side Maroons Football Club has signed free agent midfielder Nelson Mandela, ChimpReports has learnt.

Mandela has penned a two-year deal with the Luzira prison custodians having run out of contract with Busoga United.

He reunites with coach Charles Ayiekoh Lukula Mbugi after previously working together at Busoga United and Makerere University Business School (MUBS).

He joins the Maroons midfield department that has Emmanuel Olinga, Davis Mayanja, David Ndihabwe and Ronald Orombi in their ranks.

The midfielder joins other players that have renewed their stay at the club in Maxwell Okello, skipper Silvester Okello, Yahya Luti, Sydney Chika, and youngster Walter Chandia who was promoted from the reserve team.

The club has however, lost key players in Felix Okot (Kyetume), forward Steven Mukwala, Hannington Ssebwalunyo and Felix Okot.

Maroons (14th) was relegated from the Uganda Premier League last season together with Proline and Tooro United following the abrupt end of the season due to Coronavirus outbreak.
