Arua Hill Signs Former Cagliari Forward Abdulwahid

FUFA Big League side Arua Hill Sports Club has landed former Cagliari Football Academy and Uganda Cubs (U-17) forward Iddi Abdulwahid.

Abdulwahid joins the big spenders on a two-year deal, earning his first professional contract will keep him at the club until October 2022.

He has in the past featured for Onduparaka JT (2016-2018), scoring 31 goals for the Ondunyiri.

In 2019 he spent three months with Italian side Cagliari Football Club Academy before his summoning on the Uganda Cubs. The youngster has so far scored five goals in ten appearances.

He was also part of the Uganda Cubs team that featured in the CAF U-17 AFCON qualifiers last year and scored a brace against Ethiopia in regional final to qualify for finals.

“I’m too excited and very happy because I have signed my very first contract and I wish to repay the trust. I have observed the coaches in a training already and they are good. With efforts from me, self confidence and once there is confidence, which I have, it is my defence and that is how prepared I am for the challenge,” Abdulwahid noted.

He added, “I am here to promote the club to the elite League and hopeful to open doors for professional career overseas.”

Arua Hill SC head coach Hussein Mbalangu has gone on to describe the promising talisman as a special talent with scoring abilities.

“Iddi is special because he is so young, 18, and very talented and can score goals easily with his techniques and speed. In this project we want to groom, mentor Iddi properly so that within two-years West-Nile should be able to produce another Muhammad Shaban which will be Idd Abdulwahid,” Mbalangu remarked.

Iddi Abdulwahid joins Paddy Muhummuza, defender Mike Kawooya, left back Dan Birikwalira, right back Collinie Onega, and forward Rashid Agau as other club signings made ahead of next season.
