Uganda Premier League record champions, Sports Club Villa will use Bombo barracks playground as their home ground next season.
The development follows SC Villa’s move from Mandela National stadium which was declared as a COVID-19 treatment center, prompting the Jogoos to seek for asylum elsewhere.
Earlier this month, the 16-time league winners had expressed interest in securing the Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku as their home base but the stadium management turned down their request.
At Bombo barracks, the Jogoos will share the venue with newly promoted UPL side, Uganda People’s Defense Force Football Club (UPDF FC) after gaining direct promotion to the top tier following the abrupt end of the 2019/2020 FUFA Big League.
However, the stadium will be deemed fit to harbor League games next season upon inspection and approval by the FUFA Stadium Licensing Committee.
The 2020/2021 StarTimes Uganda Premier League is tentatively earmarked to kick-off on the 20th of November.
The top-tier kick off date was originally planned to start on the 17th October, but was later pushed forward by a month due to uncertainties caused by the pandemic
