Newly elected Africa Volleyball Federation (CAVB) president Bouchra HAJIJ has confirmed the suspension of all continental activities for the year 2020 including the Women’s U-20 Nations Championship.

The development follows a delayed hand over by Dr. Amr Elwani’s Executive to the new Executive led by Bouchra Hajij who was elected as the first female president for CAVB last month.

“Kindly be informed that all CAVB competitions scheduled for Year 2020 have been postponed for next year, we are currently in close contact with FIVB to decide upon the way forward to align our competitions with that of FIVB, mainly for the competitions that serve as Qualifications to FIVB world championships,” Bouchra noted.

She added, “We would also like to inform you that the CAVB is currently reviewing the hosting process of its competitions including the exigencies and challenges due to the pandemic.”

Uganda was set to host the 2020 Women’s U-20 Nations Championship in Kampala from 4th-13th December 2020.

Uganda girls were already in camp in Isingiro and now have the chance to better their preparations for the championship due to take place next year.
