• Bugerere 1-1 Kooki
Kooki have bowed out of the 2020 Airtel Masaza Cup tournament following a 1-1 draw with Bugerere in their final Masengere group game on Monday at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
Following a barren draw in the opening stanza, Bugerere took the lead through forward Geoffrey Gaganga’s well struck header off a Walugembe Derrick corner kick after 59 minutes.
Super substitute Jacobs Othieno later found Kooki’s equalizer after nodding home a well delivered cross from David Okecho on the 77th minute mark.
Kooki would have bagged match day bragging rights but Anthony Ssekidde Masikirano failed to convert his kick from the penalty mark after rattling the crossbar with two minutes left on the clock.
The penalty had resulted from a foul on Kooki’s Clinton Assimwe by Bugerere’s defender Fredrick Ngalo before center referee Moses Lubowa pointed to the spot.
The draw saw Kooki painfully bow out of the competition with just a point from three games while Bugerere (4 points) awaits the results of the second game between Kyadondo (3 points) and the leaders Mawokota (6 points).
Group leaders Mawokota advanced to the quarter-final with a game in hand joining champions Bulemeezi and Mawogola (Butikiro) as well as Busiro and Busujju from Bulange group.
