Busiro Ssaza team 20-man squad is set to receive a token of appreciation worth One hundred million Ugandan shillings (Shs 100M) despite facing a semifinal exit earlier this week.

The development was confirmed by the team’s philanthropic manager Paul Nsubuga who is the newly elected Member of parliament for Busiro North after the just concluded presidential and parliamentary elections.

Nsubuga told ChimpReports that each player is poised to receive five million as a sign of appreciation for their efforts.

“This season’s Masaza Cup was greatly affected by the COVID-19 that brought about financial constraints and restricted fans access to the stadia. But it’s the same season that I have been elected as the member of parliament to represent Busiro North for the next five years and attribute my success to the entire squad of players and technical team,” Nsubuga said.

He added, “So I saw it as a sign of appreciation for their efforts and exploits that raised my name high as the team’s manager before the voters turned up to the polls and casted their votes in my favor. However much they didn’t win the trophy, but I had to motivate them and give them courage to double their efforts in the next edition.”

For four consecutive years, the philanthropic manager has been financing Busiro Ssaza team single handedly and seems unwilling to give up on his laurels until the trophy reaches the team’s cabin.

He further opened up on their early preparations for this year’s edition.

“We have already began preparations for the 17th edition and we are in negotiations with some players to renew their contracts and looking forward to making significant recruitments from the transfer market,” he noted.

Busiro Ssaza team bowed out of this the tournament after falling to record champions Gomba (5-4) on penalties after a goalless draw in the normal time at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Thursday this week.

Coached by Lukungu Ronald, the team had eliminated Mawogola (1-0) on the quarter-finals to reach the last four stage.
