The Council for East and Central African Football Association (CECAFA) has confirmed Uganda as hosts for this year’s U20 Women’s Challenge Cup tournament.
The development was confirmed during a CECAFA members meeting held at Sofitel Hotel in Rabat, Morocco prior to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) General Assembly that took place on Friday.
While Uganda is poised to stage the U-20 Women’s Challenge Cup, Ethiopia has been named hosts for the CECAFA U-23 Men’s Challenge Cup.
The members agreed to restrict this year’s Men’s Senior challenge Cup to U23 players unlike the 2019 open championship that was hosted in Kampala.
Also, Djibouti will host the CECAFA Senior Women’s Challenge Cup with Tanzania taking hosting rights for the CECAFA Kagame Club Championship. Kenya will host the CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Competition.
“We deliberated well and members decided we have five tournaments taking place through the year and we are optimistic that the region will have very successful tournaments during the year,” CECAFA Executive Director Auka Gaceho noted.
The meeting resolved to have the club and senior competitions between June and August when the domestic Leagues are on a break, while the Age-grade competitions will be held during School breaks.
