Basketball: Warriors Sign 5-year Deal With Pemba

Two-time national basketball champions, Warriors have announced signing a five year sponsorship with Pemba Sports Africa (PSA) that is expected to run up to April 2021.

The agreement that was presented to the media is valued at UgX 250,000,000 annually and will see the 18 year old club rebrand to Pemba warriors.

“We are excited to partner with Pemba Sports Africa. This partnership will add value not only to the to the warriors team but basketball in Uganda. It is our goal to maximize this investment to grow our players and make Warriors the leading brand in Uganda basketball,” Warriors and Fuba president Mr. Ambrose Tashobya said during the launch.

In the same meeting, Warriors now referred to as Pemba Warriors confirmed two appointments to the technical committee of Mimi Mirembe as team physio and Sam Obol as the team coach.

Businessman Jackson Pemba was elated in signing the partnership and was quoted saying that he will double the package to ten years at a tune of UgX 2.5 Billion up from 1.25 billion.

“Pemba Sports Africa is a company that I started to promote Ugandan sports within framework of existing sports establishment, teams and individuals. Basketball is one of the fastest growing spectator sports in Uganda because of the amazing talents the players possess.”

Pemba also revealed that the partnership will see the two work together and support armchair basketball as part of community social responsibility (CSR).

The basketball season is expected to tee off in May.
