Rio Olympics: Uganda’s Tibatemwa in Action Today

After a disappointing performance from Uganda’s first two competitors at the ongoing 2016 Olympics games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, focus will now shift to swimmer Joshua Tibatemwa Ekirikubinza.

Boxer Kenneth Katende suffered an early exit at the round of 32 to British boxer on Sunday while swimmer Jamila Lunkunse came last in the heats in the breaststroke style and failed to progress.

Tibatemwa who qualified to Rio through a wild card just like Lunkuse will be in action on Thursday at 7pm (local time) in the heats as he tries to qualify for the semifinals.

The 19 year old swimmer who put up a personal best 25.54seconds last year will compete in the 50metre freestyle race with seven other swimmers in heat 4.

He will be up against Rwandese Imaniraguha Eloi Farhan Farhan from Bahrain and Hilal Hilal Hemed who has the best qualifying time (24.86) in heat 4.

French Swimmer Florent Manaudou is the defending champion of the 50metre freestyle category.
