New league entrants Onduparaka FC make a long eight hour trip, their first outing in the top flight away to Marugga to play Bright Stars FC.
Both teams were held on match day one, Bright stars surprising top contenders to a one all draw at Nakivubo and Onduparaka failing to find the net at home against Soana.
Bright stars endured a difficult preseason where they lost most of their key players including Keeper Mathias Kigonya and captain Bernard Muwanga to Sofapaka (Kenya) and SC villa respectively.
However, the introduction of the new season came with a bag of goodies, first signing a decent sponsorship deal with Lato Milk and Fero mobile. They went on to hold Vipers on Friday with New signing Fred Segujja finding the back of the net on his debut.
Coach Kajjoba has warned his players not to be carried in the party mood but instead focus on
the future games.
“We are not over the moon and won’t be carried away by this result. We know what to do on the pitch and we shall go back and start planning for our first home game of the season. We must make our fans happy on Tuesday,” Kajoba told club media.
Onduparaka maintained most of their players with just a few additions and also closed a mega sponsorship deal with Betway.
However, the caterpillars couldn’t present the most awaited league debut win to their home fans. The result meant they failed to win at home for the first time in 2016.
“Mawa was called in as an emergency to cover the void, Fufa didn’t approve Adraa’s papers arguing they don’t equate the Caf A or B standard,” he revealed.
“Adraa went to Fufa house today to clarify the issue but I don’t think it will be overturned so Mawa will handle the team.”
