A second half   beautiful header from prodigal son  Geoffrey Sserunkuuma was enough for  defending champions KCCA FC to  bag the maximum points from Lweza FC  in a game played at the Muteesa II  Stadium in Wankulukuku on Tuesday evening.

A beautiful trade mark cross from last season’s Most Valuable player  Joseph Ochaya was well received and headed home  by Sserunkuuma on the 54th minute mark  ensuring  the Lugogo based side took the deserved lead after  failure to  find the back of the net  in the entire first half of the game.

The visitors will have themselves to blame for failure  to score a multitude of goals  in the first half  after  Sserunkuuma, Ochaya and Brain Majwega were on a number of occasions  denied the chance by Lweza’s shot stopper Brian Bwete.

On one occasion, Majwega was released by Muzamir Mutyaba and was only left with a man to beat only for Bwete to thwart off the ball for a corner.

In the second half, it was revenge time as the home side mounted a number of attacks that left the entire KCCA FC relegated to defending as their opponents mounted pressure on their goal.

Lweza will have former KCCA player Owen Kasule and Sula Bagala to blame for failure to covert a number of clear cut chances they got as the home side mounted pressure on the defending champions.

The home team had many goal keeper to –beat situations only for Benjamin Ochan’s heroics to save KCCA FC.

In the 70th minute, KCCA FC suffered a blow after their new catch Isaac Muleme was carried off the field with a back injury few minutes after coming in for  Brian Majwega in the second half.

The win however ensured KCCA were able to beat Lweza for the first time in 3 consecutive seasons after getting only 2 points from the last 4 encounters between the 2 sides.

In an interview with ChimpSport, KCCA FC captain Denis Okot said it was a difficult game for his team as they struggled to beat Lweza adding that the win was a relief for the defending champions.

“We found a hard time especially in the last minutes of the game. They came determined to stop us from winning but it is good we have got the 3 points,”Okot said.
