Coach James Odoch returned to Jinja with a bang helping URA FC to defeat his former emoloyers JMC Hippos 3-1 in a tight balanced affair at the Kakindu stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Odoch left the Jinja tax collectors immediately after Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to SC Villa and joined his old foe Kefa Kisala in a deputizing role following the sack of Livingston Mbabazi.
The team had coach Lukyamuzi and momentarily assisted by Arthur Kyesimire who was not in the official line up but behind the bench.
Musa Bankene put the hosts in the lead just after 19 minutes of play after pouncing on a failed clearance by URA defence and advanced to loop Nafion Alionzi who was off his line.
Bankene should have put his side 2-0 in the 34th minute after a fine telepathic combination snaked the ball through Opiyo, Batali and Shabena but his stinging shot was tipped over by Nafion.
Kisala who was growing impatient towards half time made a quick change bringing in Mutyaba for Hood Muliki at the hour stroke but their was no change with the home team resorting to defensive and counter attacks.
Ronald Kigongo pulled hope for the visitors with a sneaking header off a corner in the 58th minute before former Masaza star Robert Mukongohtya doubled the score six minutes later from a defensive lapse in the jmc goal.
Sam Sekitto oiled the victory with a well taken freekick just seven minutes to time. Earlier Kakande and Mugabi had sandwiched Mukongohtya forcing the referee to award a freekick which Sekito his below a three man wall to beat wagima.
The next league games resume on Tuesday 20th after a ten day break to allow fans watch the CECAFA women cup.
URA will travel to Lweza while JMC remain at home to welcome Vipers Sc.
