Maroons 1-0 Simba

Prison’s side Maroons FC picked maximum points after getting a hard fought 1-0 win over Simba on Thursday at the Luzira prisons ground.

An own goal from Simba’s defender Stephen Mubiru in the 8th minute eventually turned to be the deciding moment in a game where both sides looked blunt in the final third.

A quick interplay between Raphael Winju and striker Patrick Kaddu left the visitors defence beaten before Mubiru converted in his own net in an attempt to save Kaddu’s strike.

The home side continued to dominate the proceedings and almost doubled the lead in the 37th minute when Ronald Kikonyongo set up Winju but the latter fired wide with Simba goalkeeper Richard Kakisole beaten.

The best chance for the visitors came after recess with veteran striker Robert Kimuli formerly at Vipers missing the target after a meeting a well-executed cross from right back Yusuf Jjuko.
