The 2017 Afcon group D match between Uganda Cranes and Burkina Faso’s Stallions at the Mandela National stadium is tied goalless after the end of the first half.
The hosts have controlled the better part of the period registering seven corners to zero for the Stallions.
First minute chance
Standard Liege attacking midfielder Farouk Miya had the first say in attack within the first minute after racing past Dayo Issoufa to get at the end of Khalid Aucho’s diagonal cross.
Miya twisted and turned his marker before slotting in a low short cross but went begging across the six-yard box.
Mawejje grabbed a similar chance eight minutes later but his ensuing cheeky long loop hit the crossbar with the whole Burkinabe backline watching.
Okwi’s moves
Emmanuel Okwi was given a role to start the ahead of Godfrey Walusimbi. The striker failed to drift through a tight defense headed by Patrick Malo.
All his three dribbles ended up knocking the wall and cleared away.
