Two goals from Ugandan-born striker Meddie Kagere and Enock Agwanda was all Gormahia needed to overcome AFC Leopards in hotly contested Kenya Premier League derby on a night that Paul Nkata’s Tusker FC stumbled.
Kagere latched a 64th minute penalty to send the green army into frenzy. Amavubi star Jacques Tuyisenge had been clipped inside the six yard while trying to shoot on goal.
Second half substitute Enock Agwanda came off the bench to seal the win with a calm tap off Eric ‘Marcello’ Ouma’s beautiful work from his left flank.
In Nakuru stadium, hosts Tusker FC were unlucky to draw one all against minnows Nairobi City Stars FC despite an early Ekhaliana Ndolo strike in 35th minute in a match that featured all the four Ugandans at the team in the starting squad.
The draw coupled with Gormahia’s victory promises an enthralling end to the league season with both sides meeting in the last of their three pending fixtures.
The brewers lead the log with 52 points, four ahead of Gormahia with clashes against Sony Sugar away, AFC Leopards at home before closing with Gormahia.
