Bright Stars head coach Fred Kajjoba has raised concerns about the under facilitation of his team and he believes it is the reason why the club has failed to get positive results recently.
Kajjoba revealed to ChimpSport that players have gone about 3 months without salary.
“We are performing poorly because players are not getting any pay. How do you motivate someone who has gone over three months without salary to play?” a furious Kajjoba asked.
He also claims, the team now does not train regularly but the players only come around a day prior to the game.
“It has become hard to convince players to come and train and hence we end up having just one training session prior to a game,” Kajjoba said.
“So do you expect us to earn positive results against teams like KCCA, Vipers or URA that are well funded?”
Bright stars have had a poor run in the league that has seen the club now go five games without victory and winning just once in the previous eight league games.
Efforts to have a comment from club President Ronnie Mutebi seemed futile with his phone off at the time of publication.
The problems at Bright stars seemed to have opened up at the start of the season following the departure of some of the key players in the team.
Bernard Muwanga and Joseph Nsubuga joined SC Villa while goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya sought for greener pastures in the Kenyan Premier League at Sofapaka.
There was an attempt to fill the gaping voids left behind with signing of several players and the arrival of sponsors in Lato Milk and Ferro Mobile seemed to have restored hope.
However, this has not been the case with reports of players going months without pay cropping up.
Bright stars who are 7th on the table with 16 points face Jinja Municipal Council (JMC ) Hippos on Tuesday in Jinja.
