Second half substitute Vincent Aboubakar volleyed in a spectacular strike in the 88th minute as Cameroon came from behind to beat Egypt 2-1 in the 2017 Africa cup of nations finals.

Mohammed ElNeny had fired the Pharaohs ahead as early the 22nd minute after Salah exchanging well with Amir Warda in the right who set him up with a defense splitting pass.

Elneny controlled and blasted to the top near post leaving Ondoa helpless.

Nicolas N’Koulou pulled matters level at the hour mark after rising high to head captain Moukandjo’s cross. N’Koulou started from the bench and was introduced after half an hour for Adolphe Teikeu who was injured.

Moukandjo wasted a glorious chance to put the Indomitable lions in the lead a minute later but his delivery off Bassogog’s effort failed to stay on target.

Alex Harris Kajjubi has confirmed his transfer to Dutch Derde Divisie club Quick ’20 from Vaxjo FC in Sweden.

The ex Sadolin Paints FC player believes the move is in the right direction toward his development and dreams to play in a higher league soon.

“I am delighted to announce my new move to Quick ’20, a third division club in Netherlands,” Kajjubi said.

“The club has been following my progress a lot and the coach (René Nijhuis) agreed to give me a chance. It’s not easy for a player to make such movements in Europe especially when your country is not highly ranked.”

The dreadlocked no nonsense defender has traversed the continent and beyond in his career. He has also played for Kagera sugar, Twiga SC (both in Tanzania), Hoima FC, Soana FC, Kapstad FC (S.Africa), Notwane FC (Botswana), Highfields United and Bantu Rovers (Zimbabwe), Desporitivo de Maputo (Mozambique), a short stink in Nepal for Manhanga Mashangadi FC and Chemilil FC in Kenya.

“It’s a big and good challenge to me. This club has about six levels in the junior ranks and most of the senior team players are gradually promoted from the academies. The facilities are classy too.”

Kajjubi confirms receiving his European citizenship but is still available to turn out for his country of origin.

IAAF Moves to Stop Athletes Poaching

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has frozen and further proposed a move to stop the transfer of allegiance in the sport.

A lot of transfers have happened recently especially athletes from Africa moving to Europe, Asia and the Americas in exchange to monetary gains.

This trend is set to stop following a proposal by IAAF President Sebastian Coe to freeze all new transfers and a committee set up to submit new rules before the end of the year. The resolution was reached at the 208th IAAF Council Meeting held on Monday in France

“Council has today frozen all new transfers of allegiance in athletics by exercising its powers under the Constitution to revoke Competition Rules 5.2(b), 5.4(d) and 5.4(e) with immediate effect,” a statement from IAAF read.

“A working group, set up to study the subject area, will submit proposals for new rules as a matter of urgency and no later than the end of this year.”

The applications already filed will not be affected by this decision.

“It has become abundantly clear with regular multiple transfers of athletes especially from Africa that the present rules are no longer fit for purpose,” Coe noted.

Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, Africa Area Group Representative on the IAAF Council, who will drive this piece of work with the working group chaired by Mr Hiroshi Yokokawa, said, “The present situation is wrong. What we have is a wholesale market for African talent open to the highest bidder. Our present rules are being manipulated to the detriment of athletics’ credibility.

“Lots of the individual athletes concerned, many of whom are transferred at a young age, do not understand that they are forfeiting their nationality. This must end and a new way forward found which respects the athletes’ rights and the sports’ dignity.”

Under the current rules, an athlete can run for several nations

KCCA FC continue their league title defense with a home fixture against BUL FC at the Philip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

The reigning champions still maintain a perfect 7-0-0 record at home and they will be banking on that form as they prepare to kick start their Caf champions league campaign later in the week.

Despite lying in the unwanted zone, the Jinja side has proved a hard nut away. The team has lost only one of the last six games, and in those, four are draws. Bul Has won two of the last three games between the duo.

Coach Mike Mutebi reaffirms that his side is not under any pressure to perform but will approach the match with caution.

“Theirs is no pressure to perform,” Mutebi noted. “The game won’t be easy at all because they have recruited experienced players who can change games.”

BUL FC pushed their captain Augustine Nsumba to the reserve team and released about nine players. Youngster Milutin Kalisa was sold to Vipers SC. Coach Anyau says his side is ready to stand up.

“Everyone knows our position, we also understand the situation. But the team is very ready and prepared to find the right rythm,” Anyau said.

The match kicks off at 4 pm.

Police football club has been one of the busiest clubs during the January mid transfer season signing about ten players ahead of the second round.

After struggling for the better part of the first round, Police ended the half season languishing in the relegation zone only a point above the red line.

This prompted the club management to make a comprehensive recruitment including bringing a new coach in Abdallah Mubiru to replace Sam Timbe who resigned.

Mubiru after winning his first game in charge against Maroons in the Uganda cup, he believes the morale can transit to the Uganda premier league as the team fights to survive relegation.

“I believe we have assembled a good team, the players are committed and fully motivated to deliver,” Mubiru said.

His first task will be against Sadolin Paints at Nakivubo stadium on Tuesday and Mubiru expects a positive start.

“It is a tricky game, Sadolin are a boggy side and hard to breakdown but I have the confidence we shall put up the desired performance to get a positive result,” he added.

The new signings that include Hakim Ssenkumba, Michael Birungi and Martin Mpuuga among others are expected to make their debuts against Sadolin Paints.

Sadolin Paints on the other hand have maintained the core of the team that played in the first round apart from goalkeeper Franco Olinga who joined Soana and midfielder Robert Achema  who moved to BUL.

New arrivals Karim Ndugwa and Baker Yunus are available for selection against Police.

Police have never lost to Sadolin Paints in the league in the 5 meetings, winning four and drawing once.

Bright stars 0-0 SC Villa

Sports club Villa lost ground in the title race after playing to a goalless draw against Bright stars as the Uganda premier league resumed on Tuesday.

The record champions endured a fruitless evening failing to earn maximum points against a resilient and composed Bright stars at the Champions stadium in Mwererwe.

Despite several attempts to break the deadlock, the visitors lacked the cutting edge in the final third to break down Bright stars.

Defender John Adriko got the first chance at goal inside the opening minute connecting to Godfrey Lwesibawa’s cross from the left end but the former headed wide.

Villa had another opportunity to go ahead in the 18th minute but forward Alex Kitata failed to find the target heading wide.

Bright stars were forced to an early change with Andrew Kaggwa paving way for Moses Ssekasana after limping off with a knee injury 20 minutes into the game.

Kitata won possession off defender Innocent Asiimwe but his attempt to round off the goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato failed with the ball moving far from the goal area with five minutes to the break.

Ssekasana Moses cleared a ball off the line at the 70th minute mark to deny midfielder Tadeo Lwanga who had stretched heading on the left side of the goal.

Bright stars also missed a glorious opportunity five minutes to end off the game with Fred Segujja failing to tap home Kokas Opejo’s well laid cross.

Defending champions and table leaders KCCA FC will have lady luck to thank for bagging all the 3 points against BUL FC in the Azam Uganda Premier League at the Philip Omondi Stadium on Tuesday.

A goal in either half of the game ensured the unconvincing Kasasiro Boys consolidated their league at the summit of Uganda’s top flight league.

The home side opened the scoring just 3 minutes after the start of the game with prodigal son Geoffrey Sserunkuma   tapping in a Habib Kavuma header from a corner.

The defending champions had a series of attacks to the visitors’ goal but the former looked blunt and on a number of occasions missed putting the ball at the back of the net.

BUL in the second half had many moments to rejoice about as those to cry about after coming closer to scoring but the hosts’ custodian Charles Lukwago who was having his debut league game in between KCCA FC’s sticks was always the savior.

Yuda Mugalu, David Bagoole and Yunus Sibira had many questions to ask for KCCA’s shot stopper, but the later rose to the occasion.

In the 60th minute, the worst came for the visitors who left a man less after their goal keeper Brian Bwete was shown marching orders for handling the ball outside the 18-yard box by the centre referee.

The team from Jinja would later bring in  new catch Eric Dhaira in between the sticks but the  young  goal keeper was welcomed by a picking the ball from his net after a well taken free kick by Muzamiru Mutyaba and ensuring the home side maintained their lead.

Kirinya Jinja SSS FC’s search for a maiden win in the Uganda Premier League has been stretched to match day 17 after another disheartening stalemate played at Fufa technical centre in Njeru.

The school boys did everything else, but score, in a match they controlled for most parts. Winger James Otim wasted a second minute chance.

Allan Drajua made a diagonal clearance which the youngster cooled down and advanced for a one in one with Oringa but the keeper was quick off his line and cleared danger.

Oringa received his debut and earned lots of praises from his new coach William Lutaalo who was incidentally in charge of his first game.

“The keeper has done a good job especially adapting quickly on this artificial turf which disturbed most of my players in the initial minutes,” he said.

Kirinya gave debuts to Vipers SC loanees Bashir Mutanda and John Ssemazzi but it’s the latter who irked the fans more with his toothlessness in front of goal, selfishness and poor passing rate.

Mid first half saw the chance of the day going into waste. Drajua split a pass to Ssemazzi for a quick counter attack from the centre line with Otim and Mutanda running into space in a three on one situation but the former Under-23 striker opted to run the whole length to the corner flag instead of passing to his eagerly waiting mates.

Geoffrey Ssimbwa fired the visitors ahead in the 70th minute after the hosts defense clumsily failed to clear off danger inside the box.

Anthony Mayanja pulled one back nine minutes later from the spot just before Soana’s time wasting tactics could yield anything.

Kirinya draws hit a double figure just one below the draw masters URA FC.

Vipers 2-0 Lweza

Vipers Sports Club earned derby bragging rights over rivals Lweza with a convincing 2-0 win on Tuesday.

In a game played at Mandela National stadium, Vipers put up an incredible performance to complete a double against Lweza in the Entebbe road derby.

Second half goals from Tonny Odur and combative midfielder Deus Bukenya ensured the Kitende based side earned victory.

Vipers endured a barren first half with Lweza opting to sit back and defend from deep within their own half.

Debutant Milton Kalisa who joined Vipers in January almost got the two time league winners ahead as early as the 3rd minute jumping high to notch a header but goalkeeper Milton Kalisa stretched to par the ball away.

Despite several attempts from Odur, Erisa Ssekisambu and Mike Sserumaga, Vipers failed to break the deadlock squandering several chances.

Head coach Richard Wasswa, handed exciting midfielder Moses Waiswa his debut for Vipers replacing Mike Sserumaga who struggled after suffering a knock midway through the first half.

Tonny Odur gave the hosts a deserved lead in the 49th minute tapping home from close range Milton Kalisa’s cross from the right flank.

There was another debut for youngster Francis Onekalit who was promoted from the junior side coming on for Erisa Ssekisambu two minutes to the hour mark.

Industrious midfielder Deus Bukenya doubled the lead for the venoms scoring from a Moses Waiswa corner kick.

Police football club began the second round of the 2016/17 Uganda premier league on an impressive note with a victory against Sadolin Paints.

In what was Abdallah Mubiru’s first league game as head coach at Police FC, the cops put a resuscitated performance to oust Sadolin Paints 2-0 at Nakivubo stadium on Tuesday.

Veteran forward Hood Kaweesa opened the scores before new recruit William Wadri added the goal to help Police record their fourth win this season.

Hood Kaweesa gave the cops an early lead in the 10th minute picking a rebound after Sadolin’s goalkeeper Baker Yunus parried the ball into the striker’s path.

Despite several attempts from the visitors through Norman Ojik, Fred Kyambadde and Allan Oryek, Police managed to contain the pressure.

Debutant William Wadri who is on loan from Vipers doubled the lead  from the spot kick towards the end of the first half after defender Moses Kibirige handled the ball in the forbidden area.
