Uganda Cranes central defender Isaac Isinde is not ruling out a deadline day move to a local topflight club.

ChimpSport caught up with the former St. George defender after a training match with a Jinja Select side against Jinja Municipal Hippos at St. Jude grounds in Jinja.

JMC won 2-1 against an opponent that also featured Khalid Aucho, Alex Harris Kajjubi and Boban Zirintusa

Rumors have linked the calm and composed star with a short deal with Uganda Cup champions Vipers SC and struggling JMC Hippos and he didn’t object.

“There have been rumors about my future since leaving St. George. Others have said I signed with Vipers and some say JMC Hippos,” Isinde said

“I have got several deals (abroad) in the pipeline but they haven’t yet matured. So what am looking at is to keep myself in the system to maintain focus and shape but that said, I won’t rush myself.”

“I have no problem with any local team approaching me at the moment. They can come and we discuss as I wait for my next moves.”

Isinde also revealed that his agents are working on a move to Tunisia, Egypt and Saudi Arabia clubs.

One of Jinja Municipal officials confirmed to this website that they are indeed in talks with the defender for at least a three months offer.

Kawempe Muslim 2-0 Muteesa

Kawempe Muslim extended their perfect run to six straight wins after an emphatic victory against Muteesa I Royal University.

Goals from Favour Nambatya and Juliet Nalukenge in the first half ensured the defending champions earned maximum points in the game played at the Valley ground in Kawempe on Tuesday.

Muteesa finished with a player less after defender Fatuma Nandawula was given matching orders by centre referee Anna Akoyi for retaliation towards the end of the first half.

Kawempe dominated proceedings right from the start and Favour Nambatya gave the hosts an early lead heading home Hasifa Nassuna’s cross from a free kick in the 6th minute.

Reigning best female player, Hasifa Nassuna almost doubled the lead six minutes later when she received a long ball from Tracy Akiror but fired wide with just a keeper to beat.

Youngster Juliet Nalukenge doubled the lead for the hosts at the half hour mark tapping home from close range Favour Nambatya’s low cross.

Nandawula was sent off with a minute to half time after head batting Kawempe’s Tracy Akiror.

Goalscorer Favour Nambatya who had suffered a cut on her eye midway through the first half was replaced by Apon Sharon after the interval.

Muteesa University head coach made two changes at the hour mark introducing goalkeeper Nakaziro Daizy and striker Namataka Betty.

Despite playing with 10 players, the visitors put up a fight after recess with the best chance falling to Namataka but her effort ricocheted off the base of the post to deny her.

Fufa President Eng. Moses Magogo has revealed that the Federation will present a proposal to seek government support in a bid to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Magogo was speaking to press during a post- Afcon press conference on Wednesday morning at the Fufa house in Mengo.

“When in Gabon, we actually realized we have almost everything that is required to host this competition,” Magogo said.

“We have much better facilities and services but the only thing we lack are the stadiums which is why we are calling on the government.”

A nation willing or bidding to host the continental showpiece must meet minimum requirements which include four standard stadiums with a capacity not less than 20,000 fans.

Uganda currently has only one international standard stadium -Namboole- which still requires a lot of works to meet the levels.

“Fufa only wants that government support (building stadia) and definitely if the decisions are taken, we shall have the grounds ready in eight years time.”

Cameroon won bids to stage the 2019 finals, Ivory Coast for 2021 and Guinea in 2023.

El Hadary Magic Overpowers Burkinabe as Egypt March to Finals

Egypt reached their fourth consecutive and ninth overall final appearance in the Africa Cup of Nations with a victory over Burkina Faso on Wednesday in Libreville.

The Pharaohs had to rely on Essam El Hadary’s magic to defeat the resilient Stallions 4-3 after Penalties that followed a one all draw in the normal band extra time.

Mohammed Salah unlocked the strong Burkina Faso defense line with a 66th minute stunning strike to the top left corner connecting from Kahraba’s shot pass.

The Stallions replied well to strike a balance and forced two corners in succession. Aristides Bance clicked the right box four minutes later, cheating down Charles Kabore’s cross and riffled past El Hadary for the leveller.

It was also the first goal El Hadary conceded in this tournament and ended 10 hours streak for the 44 year old.

The game was stretched into the extra time but it had to be decided from the spot after a gruesome evening in Libreville.

Abdullah El Said stepped up for the first shot, but unfortunately for him, the power behind the shot was emasculated which Koffi easily blocked with his right hand and to the post.

Alain Traore scored to put Burkina Faso ahead of the second rounds of shots.

Ramadhan Sobhi, Ahmed Hegazy, Salah and Warda made no mistake in the subsequent kicks for Egypt before El Hadary pounced on Koffi and Bertrand Traoré’s shots to send Egypt through.

NCS, Uganda Olympic Committee Saga: Blick Vows To Remain In Office

$

The wrangles between National Council of Sports and Uganda Olympic Committee seem far from getting an amicable solution with both sides failing to find a leveled ground.

Just last week, Uganda Olympic Committee held their General Assembly which ushered in a new executive but the exercise was deemed null and void by the government sports regulatory body (NCS) citing several irregularities hence suspending the process.

On Thursday, NCS chairman Bosco Onyik in a press briefing at the council offices in Lugogo affirmed that as the regulatory body, they will not allow results from a sham election exercise. “

As National Council of Sports, we have about three key issues which we think must be addressed before elections go on,” Onyik said.

First, they should deal only with federations/associations that are fully registered with NCS, the assembly should be fully constituted and address the composition of non- registered entities,” he stated.

According to Onyik, NCS have the mandate to regulate all sports associations of which they must comply with the registration process of the council so as to qualify as legitimate sports authorities.

“Following the gazetting of the National Council of Sports Instrument Cap 38 of 2014,all the sports organizations which wished to promote a given sport in Uganda,” he said.

“So when the said instrument came into force, it became imperative that the composition of the Uganda Olympic Committee should be made up of National sports associations which are recognized by the NCS,” Onyik emphasized.

NCS insist some associations that took part in the UOC general assembly were not registered with them and thus don’t qualify to take part in the due process of elections.

“Following the receipt of various petitions from some recognized National Sports Associations; our attention was drawn to the purported UOC general assembly where nonexistent sports associations were meant to take part in an illegal general assembly/election of the executive committee of the UOC,” Onyik stated.

The associations deemed illegal include Rugby union, Rowing association, Shooting sports Federation, Table tennis association, Weight lifting association, Gymnastic association and Equestrian association who haven’t complied to the new NCS regulation process.

UOC RESPONSE

Chimpsport took an initiative to reach out to the Uganda Olympic Committee president William Blick who downplayed all the reasons that NCS fronted for their decision to call off the general assembly.

Blick indicates that whatever the UOC has been doing is legal and he doesn’t see the cause for alarm.

“We had our nomination process on time and everything moved on smoothly I wonder why the NCS claim the General assembly was illegal,” Blick wondered.

“International Olympic Committee wrote to us in regard to the composition and membership and were very clear on that,” he said. In the letter dated 13 January 2017, IOC provides that the current registration of associations should not affect the affiliation to the national Olympic Committee.

“We fully understand that the national federations have been required by the relevant government authorities to undergo a legal/registration process as per the laws of the land. However, in the meantime, this should affect their existence nor should it affect their affiliation to/ membership of your NOC and their respective International Federations,” reads part of the statement. “

Some of the federations NCS claims are illegal have activities and have recognition from international bodies. For example fencing, we have just received playing equipment from their international body,” Blick indicated.

On the claim that Blick appointed a returning officer who would favour him, he said as UOC they followed the right procedure. “We had a special executive meeting where the returning officer (Sim Katende) was voted and the minutes of that meeting are well documented.

Already, Godfrey Nyakana and Fred Kavuma all from Uganda Boxing Federation filled a case in the high court seeking for legal interpretation. The court hearing is slated for 3rd March 2016.

William Blick was re-elected into office for another four year term in office on Saturday last week unopposed after his main competitor Dennis Mbidde pulled out also citing similar irregularities as the NCS.

Should the wrangles go on, the international Olympic Committee has the mandate to ban Uganda from all their activities.

Afcon 2017: Indomitable Lions Roar to Finals With Ghana Victory

Cameroon struck two goals in the last twenty minutes to eliminate favorites Ghana and book a mouth watering Africa Cup of Nations final with Egypt.

The finals will be a mere repeat of the 2008 edition where the Indictable Lions defeated Ghana 1-0 through an Alain N’Kong’s 72nd minute goal but went on to lose 4-1 to the Pharaohs in the finals.

The match characterized by physical battles, was initially set for an extra time but defender, Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui made profits out of a 72nd minute defensive hitch in the black Stars defense to fire in from close range.

Ghana custodian, Brimah Razak, failed to control proceedings in his box from a freekick which John Boye clumsily brushed to Ngadeu at the back end. The defender calmly controlled and sent one to the roof top of the net.

Avram Grant was forced to bring on his half fit captain Asamoah Gyan for Acquah to savor the situation but it was all futile.

The skipper rekindled the spirit and motivated a series of attacks in the green half of the pitch with lots of anxiety but it later turned disastrous.

Aboubakar and Bassagog capitalized on the numerical advantage and launched a 2 vs 1 kind of counter attack which later switched to the latter on the right side. Bassagog raced through the box and clipped a cheeky left tap beyond Razak and for the second goal just at the death of extra time.

The Black Stars arrived in the game as outright favorites to survive but were often on the back foot. Harrison Afful was on point to clear the ball off the line after Teikeu had rose high to thump a strong header in the seventh minute.

Razak also had to deal with several attacks especially from Tambe. Wakaso, Atsu and the Ayews also witnessed their attempts either saved or go into waste.

Ghana will now head to Port-Gentil for a third place showdown against Burkina Faso on Saturday evening.

Lineups

Cameroon: Fabrice Ondoa, Adolphe Teikeu, Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui, Ambroise Oyongo Bitolo, Benjamin Moukandjo, Jacques Zoua Daogari, Christian Bassogog, Sebastien Siani, Arnaud Sutchuin Djoum (77′ Georges Mandjeck), Ndip Tambe (73′ Vincent Aboubakar), Collins Fai

Uganda Cup holders Vipers Sports Club have shifted their opening Caf confederation home tie to Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

The club initially proposed to use the newly built St. Marys stadium in Kitende as their home ground but delayed construction works have forced the change in venue.

Jinja Municipal council Hippos and Uganda Christian University- Mbale have progressed to the round of 32 in the Uganda cup following identical home wins.

Sleeky winger Sekajugo was the difference as JMC Hippos squeezed a slim 1-0 win over Nyamityobora FC.

The Centre official arrived about 45 minutes to the official kick off and performed the routine checks before both teams embarked to their final round of warm ups.

Forty five minutes later, the match assistants were nowhere to be seen and that remained the same half an hour after scheduled kickoff before both sides agreed to use makeshift linesmen chosen by either side.

The funniest part is when the center referee borrowed a whistle from one of the JMC Hippos fans to kick off the game.

The game was flurried with multiple mistakes and at the end, a section of Nyamityobora officials confronted the center referee in search of answers.

In the other game played, UCU Mbale defeated Airtel Kitara at the Mbale municipal stadium to progress. The goal was scored by Abdul Karim Ntalaba.
