KCCA FC to Take Part in Inaugural Star Times Cup in Tanzania

Uganda Premier League defending champions KCCA FC have confirmed receipt of invitation and participation in the inaugural Star times International cup.

The tournament, according to the Lugogo adminstration, is set to kick off on Friday December 16 and run for a week up to 23rd.

“We are excited about the whole thing as a club and the players will benefit from the competition,” KCCA FC chief Executive officer Mr. David Tamale was quoted by club portal.

“We have a young squad whose ability is not doubted a competition like that will gauge and improve them.”

Two teams will come from hosts Tanzania while Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique all provide one to make up eight for the two groups.

“We want to give our team as much exposure as we can as we prepare for the 2017 CAF Champions League, so we didn’t hesitate when the invitation came through, we confirmed our participation,” Tamale added.

Prizes.

The champion of the tournament will bag home a cool USD 50,000 (approx UGX 165 million) while the second runner ups sweep USD 30,000 (UGX 99M).

The tournament top scorer and best goalkeeper have USD 2,000 (UGX 6.6 M).

The club is sponsored by Star times.
