Ndejje lose ground in continental volleyball women championship

Ugandan sports club have continuously failed to make a mark out the in continental competitions and the same ‘curse’ looks like its eating on the country’s sole representatives in the 2016 Africa volleyball women’s championship, Ndejje University elites.

The games are currently taking place in Tunis, Tunisia.

The Ugandans who are pooled in group A alongside Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), Mashaal Bejaia (Algeria) and the hosts Carthage, lost ground on Sunday.

Ndejje elites  came from a set down against Mashaal Bejaia of Algeria to take a 2-1 lead into the fourth set but gave away the set 25-22 and eventually losing the tie-breaker. The Algerians finally won 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-11).

Ndejje were earlier on humiliated 3-0 (25-11, 25-16 and 25-14) by the tournament organisers Carthage in the opening game on Friday. They complete their assignment on Tuesday in an all East African affair against RRA.

In the other match played in group A, Rwandan Revenue Authority lost 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-7) to the Carthage while the other East African representatives and seven time champions Kenya pipeline fought for 148 minutes Marathon to overcome the 2014 champions GSP of Algeria 3-2 (22-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-19, 15-12) in Pool C.
