Uganda Martyrs University 7-1 Bishop Stuart University
Uganda Martyrs University put up a great performance as they eased past debutants Bishop Stuart University in the University Football League.
The 2015 finalists outwitted Mbarara’s Bishop Stuart 7-1 in the game played in Nkozi, Masaka on Sunday.
By halftime, the job was seemingly done with Shafik Bisaso’s charges leading 4-1 before completing the rout in the second stanza.
Owori Douglas gave the hosts an early lead in the 7th minute capitalizing on a miscommunication between defender Tweheyo Kenneth and goalkeeper Atwasubira Kenneth.
Six minutes later, Athanus Mutawe doubled the lead for the Saints in what turned out to be an easy ride for the hosts despite Wilber Masereka pulling one back for the visitors in the 28th minute.
Reuben Lubega (brace), Mbigo Livingston,Kamya Emmanuel, Owora Jacob all got onto the score sheet to help UMU defeat Bishop Stuart.
Uganda Martyrs University now lead group B on six points in two games same as second placed Kyambogo University.
Kyambogo defeated Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) 5-0 on Saturday with Kunya Kenneth (four goals) and Moses Atamba scoring for Kyambogo.
