Kyaggwe Ssaza team Head Coach Hussein Mbalangu has named the final 16-man squad that will take part in the 2020/2021 Airtel Masaza Cup tournament.
Mbalangu’s final squad of tried and tested players has two goalkeepers, five defenders, four midfielders and five strikers.
Defenders Wako Ivan, Appollo Senteza, and Ogutu James are the fresh talents on the block who will have their Masaza Cup experience for the first time along with midfielders Akbar Sentongo, and Ronald Ober.
Speaking to ChimpReports, tactician Mbalangu who expects to play a “Tiki Taka” style of flair in the championship, believes they are prepared enough and expects his Kyaggwe to be the surprise package of the championship.
“We have prepared well for this tournament and we are upbeat because it’s hosted in our county so we want the trophy to remain home. Our main target is to make it to the finals and win the trophy. Our group opponents are strong as well but you have to beat the best to become the best. I will base on my coaching experience and the fresh legs in the competition to encounter my opponents,” Mbalangu said.
Kyaggwe was pitted in the same group (Bulange) alongside Buvuma, Buwekula, Busujju and 2019 finalists Busiro. All the five teams conducted the mandatory covid-19 tests on Tuesday at Bulange, Mengo ahead of their arrival at Njeru on Sunday.
After a successful completion of Butikkiro group stage games, the Masaza Cup tournament will take a one week break and will resume after Christmas on Monday 28th December, 2020 with the Bulange group.
