FUFA Sets Tentative Date for 2020/21 Big League Season Kick-off

The Federation of Uganda Football Association has set Thursday 18th March, 2021 as the tentative kickoff date for the 2020/2021 FUFA Big League (FBL) season.

This was confirmed during FUFA’s consultative meeting with StarTimes FUFA Big League clubs on Friday at Jevine Hotel, Kampala in preparation for the forthcoming season.

The meeting had FUFA 1st vice-president Darius Mugoye who represented FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, FUFA Competitions Committee Chairman Hamid Juma, FUFA Deputy CEO-Football Decolas Kiiza, FUFA Deputy CEO-Services Humphrey Mandu and FUFA Club Licensing Manager Ivan Kintu Bayige.

After the meeting, it was agreed that the new season kicks off upon completion of the mandatory Covid-19 tests for players and members of the technical team and all the players must be contracted.

The meeting resolved to allow fans access the matches upon a written request to FUFA but subject to approval. The league also Maintains the two rounds (home and away format).

The League will comprise of 16 clubs grouped under the brand names of Elgon and Rwenzori each having Eigh teams (32 man-squad per team).

12 of the 16 clubs have undergone Clubs Pro Agenda, a programme that will be oraginsed for new entrants Gadafi FC, Calvary FC, Luwero United, alongside Teraazo and Tiles.

Two clubs in Tooro FC, Terrazo and Tiles have not submitted any requirements in line with Club Licensing and have until 3rd March to beat the new grace period.

All the FUFA Big League Club Head Coaches and their Assistants must hold CAF C Licenses.

The club representatives in attendance were Anthony Afeti (Arua Hill), Paul Mukembo and Edrine Ochieng (Gaddafi), Pius Bamwine and Allen Eriku Anguyo (Maroons), Jerry Adebu and Rasul Oryem (Paidha Black Angels), David Adebo and Onzima Kizito (Calvary FC), Sadam Mugaru (Nyamityobora FC) among others.
