
The She Cranes endured their second consecutive defeat as they went down 59-27 to the defending champions South Africa’s SPAR Proteas in the Diamond challenge at the University of Kwazulu Natal West ville Durban campus on Monday.
The Ugandans had been beaten 55-50 on Sunday in the opening game against South Africa’s second string team named the President XII.
South Africa managed to score a dozen goals in the first and second quarters as their opponents struggled to get a two figure in any of the quarters on Monday night.
The first quarter ended 12-8 and was followed by a near identical 12-7 margin in the second to put the Proteas 24-15 as at halftime.
She Cranes worst performance was after the half time break coming back with a paltry five goals with the hosts tripling the figure to set up a 21 point gap into the last part of the game.
Proteas reenergized in the last quarter hitting the days highest score in a single segment to end 59-27.
In the other game, President’s XII overpowered Zimbabwe 57-32 to record their second win. The two South African teams clash in Tuesday to decide the winner while Uganda and Zimbabwe struggle for the third place.
