AUPL: Bright stars blame JMC loss to poor officiation

Bright Stars assistant coach Paul Kiwanuka has attributed his team’s 3-1 loss at Kakindu on Saturday to poor level of officiation from the center referee David Oula.

The Stars conceded a 14th minute own goal after captain Bernard Muwanga headed in his own net before Ivan Lubale smashed in a second half brace.

“The game was 50-50. We conceded an early goal even though the referee was not awarding us fouls. I think the officiation wasn’t to standards to my side especially the side of the assistant referees,” Kiwanuka told Chimp Sport after the game.

Bright stars equalized through Farouq Banga’s 35th minute strike but were let down by their back line who failed to intercept a sloppy pass from Wandyaka that found Lubaale unmarked rounding off Muwanga and firing past an advancing Kigonya.

“We lost concentration a bit after conceding an own goal but recovered and got an equaliser but again lost it in the second half. There were a lot of lapse in defence but I can’t blame the players, we shall just have to work on the mistakes before the next game against KCCA FC,” the coach summed up.

The Kawempe side are without their head coach Fred Kajoba who is admitted at the Nakaseero hospital. The coach suffered a heart problem just after returning from Burkina Faso with the Uganda Cranes.

On the other hand, JMC move to fifth position 33 points from 22 games. They travel to Luzira to play lowly ranked Maroons FC on Tuesday as Bright Stars host table leaders KCCA FC in Matugga.
