Betway Power 86-67 KIU Titans
Power put up an incredible performance to overcome Kampala International University (KIU) Titans in game two the semifinal series of the National Basketball League.
After succumbing to a slim defeat in game one losing by one point (70-69), Power headed into game two with the ambition to seek recovery.
Donning their new kit bearing their new sponsor Betway, Power dominated the game winning 86-67 to draw the series at 1-1 in a game played on Thursday at MTN arena, Lugogo.
The 5 time champions took to an explosive start claiming the opening quarter 24-21 with Isaac Afidra wreaking havoc to Titans.
KIU Titans failed to match a brilliant Power side who added 21 more points in the second period while the Kasanga based side were limited to just 10 points and the gap had grown to six points heading into halftime.
Titans returned better after recess with Suudi Ulanga trying to orchestrate an attempted come back but still Power held on to win the third quarter ,20-19 thus the score board reading 65-50 with 10 minutes to play.
Power capped off the resuscitated performance shipping in 21 points while Hamza Nyambogo’s coached side could only manage just 17.
Isaac Afidra and Michael Kojo both from Power led the scores with a joint game high 20 points. Captain Joseph Ikong followed closely with 19 points.
On the other hand, Suudi Ulanga who was playing against his former masters had a team high 17 points for Titans with Geoffrey Soro and Norman Block managing 12 and 11 points respectively.
KCCA Leopards also levelled the series in the ladies category defeating JKL lady dolphins 71-67 in game two. Dolphins had won game one.
